Presenter Guidelines

Language

Posters and Oral presentations should be in English (official language of the conference). No simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

Oral Presentations

The lecture room is equipped with a data projector. No slide or overhead projectors will be provided.

A PC computer and a laser pointer will be provided. The use of personal notebooks is not encouraged but they can be used in special cases. For example, in presentations containing uncommon movies or animation file formats which are not adequately displayed using the main conference PC.

Please contact the local organizing committee (email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) if you require an Apple Macintosh computer and/or different presentation software.

All lecturers are required to submit their presentations by 07:00 pm of the day prior to their presentation. Presentations should be submitted as Microsoft PowerPoint (or Adobe PDF) electronic files using a USB flash disk.

You are expected to notify the session chair of your presence before the start of the session.

Posters

Three poster sessions will be held from Tuesday to Thursday. The exact date of your presentation will be posted on the SMARTER 2 web page before the beginning of the conference.

Please plan to post your poster before 9.00 am of each poster session day. At least one of the authors (preferably the main presenter) should be next to the poster during the session to present and discuss the results.

i) Poster Details

All posters should be in portrait format. Maximum dimensions: 110 cm height x 90 cm wide. Failure to follow this requirement will mean that the poster will not fit on the allotted board.

The organization will provide the suitable materials to fix all posters.

Please note: smaller poster sizes are also adequate but presenters should keep in mind that posters should be easily readable at a distance of 1 meter.

ii) Tips for a good poster presentation

- Posters should be rich in graphical content such as figures, charts and tables. Please keep the amount of text small and highly objective. Long descriptions of the experimental details or data analysis is not encouraged as the presenter will be next to the poster during the poster sessions.

- Print the TITLE of the poster at the top in large size characters. A list of the authors of the work to be presented and their affiliation should be located next to the title.

- For an easy identification of the main author and/or presenter of the poster please underline your name and provide a direct contact for future communication (for example, email address).

- All poster presenters are encouraged to provide poster handouts during the poster sessions so to foster future contacts among delegates to the conference.

iii) Display Boards

A display board for each poster will be available at the conference site. The poster number to which it refers will be indicated on the top right corner.

Please note: All content for the posters (illustrations, charts,, etc) should be prepared in advance and brought to the conference. Printing facilities will not be available at the meeting site.
